‘The Snowman’ Trailer: Teases a Fassbender on the hunt in a suspense thriller

There seems to be an interesting mix of genre film that does have the ability to possibly compete for the awards. With the likes of Blade Runner 2049, American Assassin, Battle of the Sexes, mother!, Wonderstruck, Murder on the Orient Express, The Greatest Showman and many others. It seems like it will be a great end of the year for genre films.

Today, Universal has released the first trailer for Tomas Alfredson The Snowman. Based on the best-selling novel by Jo Nesbø. The film follows Harry Hole (Micheal Fassbender) who is on the hunt for a killer to specifically targets women who have done wrong in the killer’s eyes. Harry is on the case of one specific woman and he brings in a new recruit (Rebecca Furgeson). Both of them must connect this case to the previous ones that have involved this killer.

The concept of a killer taking on the mantra of The Snowman but in the trailer, you see that Alfredson does a cool and interesting way that he incorporates the Snowman. He uses it a mark that the killer leaves on his victims and the scene. Alfredson’s film past indicates to me that he will not do a typical genre film and will attempt to tackle something different of the normal horror thrillers you get nowadays. With two tremendous leads in Micheal Fassbender and Rebecca Furgeson, you will see he bring great performances out of them like he has in the past from his cast.

The Snowman opens in theaters on October 20th and also stars Val Kimer, Charlotte Gainsbourg and J.K. Simmons
